Why these weekends are different
On an ordinary trip, supply is not the problem. You open Airbnb, you pick somewhere, you book it. Around a big event the market inverts: a fixed number of beds, a spike of demand landing on the same few nights, and everything gone long before most people start looking.
After that point, availability comes from one place only, which is other people changing their minds. That is why these guides are less about where to search and more about when things get released, which nearby town everybody forgets, and what is quietly filtering your search down to nothing.

Can an alert find me a place when an event is completely sold out?
Only if something frees up, and that is the honest answer. No tool creates supply. What happens on a sold-out weekend is that people cancel, and the listing goes back into search results with no announcement at all. An alert makes sure you are the one who notices rather than whoever happened to refresh.
How far ahead should I set an alert for an event weekend?
As soon as your dates are fixed. For events that sell out very early, like Coachella or Mardi Gras, the useful availability comes from groups falling apart months later, so a long watch catches more than a frantic one in the final fortnight.
Why does my search show no results even though listings exist?
Nine times out of ten it is the minimum stay. Hosts routinely require four, five or seven nights across an event weekend, so a two-night search returns an empty map even where rooms are free. Rebuild the search with the longer stay before concluding the town is full.
Should I watch more than one town for an event?
Usually yes, and it is the most underrated move here. Nearby markets empty at different rates, and the obvious base fills first. Running two or three searches in parallel beats checking one of them more often.
Which plan do I need for event alerts?
